Marlboro survives scare at Cheraw - Kendrick McRae came off the bench to rush for 268 yards and three touchdowns as Marlboro County survived an upset attempt by Class AA Cheraw.  McRae scored the winning touchdown on a 26 yard run with exact one minute remaining in the game.  The Bulldogs host Scotland County Friday night. Bulldogs open with 35-7 win - Marlboro County opened the 2003 football regular season with a 35-7 victory over Clover at McAlpine Stadium.  After struggling to establish themselves in the first half, the Bulldogs responded with 21 points in the fourth quarter.  The rushing effort was led by senior quarterback Kendrick McCrae, who gained 142 yards on just nine attempts.  Senior tailback Jermaine Stanton scored twice while also eclipsing the century mark.

MCHS sluggish in workout with Fayetteville 71st After a strong first scrimmage, the Bulldogs lacked intensity and focus against Fayetteville 71st High School in a workout at Carroll Field in Bennettsville on Tuesday (August 12).  The Bulldogs will take part in the Bulldog Jamboree on Friday, again at Carroll Field.   (Click here for photos of 71st scrimmage)

Bulldogs tie Richmond County in first scrimmage - Marlboro County's varsity football squad made its 2003 debut with a home scrimmage against North Carolina power Richmond County.  The Bulldogs did well, tying the Raiders 6-6 in a game situation workout that concluded the three hour workout.  Marlboro will scrimmage Fayetteville 71st High School on Tuesday (August 12) at Carroll Field in Bennettsville.  The scrimmage has been moved to Carroll Field due to the wet conditions at McAlpine Stadium.    (Click here for photos of Richmond scrimmage)

 

Marlboro County  finalized the 2003 football schedule by signing an agreement to face Crest High School of Shelby, NC.  The Bulldogs will host the Chargers at Bennettsville's McAlpine Stadium on September 26.  Crest finished last season with a 12-1 record.  Their only loss came in the third round of the NC Class AAAA playoffs.
