Construction could soon start on the 50,000 square foot speculative building for the county.
Cohn Construction Services will construct the $2,772,483 building.
At a recent county council meeting, County Administrator Ron Munnerlyn said the groundbreaking would be soon.
The county will advertise for a third-party firm to observe the site work, foundation, construction, and review payment applications during the building process.
Officials said this will require a licensed construction management firm.
Funding for the project will come from Marlboro County Economic Development restricted funds, $500,000; Marlboro Electric Cooperative, $150,000; S.C. Department of Commerce, $1,749,999; and an additional $142,231 from the S.C. Department of Commerce to add on a fourth concrete wall.
